Hullo Sarah, I have not found or decided on my gouache of choice! I have never met an Artist that uses ONLY one brand, unless they are sponsored by or an ambassador to that brand. I have been converted to DaVinci Watercolors of California Paints! I have heard some not so nice things said about their gouache, so I have not invested in any colors yet. I did buy their white gouache to use with my watercolor paints. I am trying to break a lifelong habit of NEVER painting with white in watercolor! I have the most experience with Turners Design Gouache, yet that is from 4 years of purgatory at a design firm that I truly don’t want to use. I did see the video listing of comparison brands of gouache. I will have to watch. Do you actually recommend a brand? I have always been reluctant to do that very thing, every person has their own preferences for what they want in and from a paint! Thank you for sharing this lovely painting book with us.

Hullo Sarah, I am a recent subscriber. I honestly have avoided your channel and gouache videos. I have a love/hate relationship with gouache. I left college to start freelance art work full time in 1984, after a couple of years I had to get more regular work at a design firm and I was working with gouache and EVERYTHING I did was photographed and then put in the circular file, yes right into the trash! I was taught that gouache was not an archival product, Not a permanent painting medium! So I have avoided it for years. I recently saw a watercolor video that popped up on my side recommended video area that YOU Created! I have recently started working on some Studio Ghibli subjects and I thought I might use Nicker Poster Color Paint! This is ultra Matt paint and used by animation studios across the whole world! I am just so amazed at how far gouache has come as a fine art medium, honestly it has been derided as an inferior product and so not what “real artists” use! Well young lady you are certainly a real artist and I have become a convert to gouache as a fine art medium! Thank you for sharing your adventures in gouache and watercolors! I have not invested in your boxes yet, I need to still get used to the idea that I can use gouache for my art. Please take care and I look forward to seeing you continue your art journey!

Please will you do a video where you talk about the best brands for dried gouache, by colour? I think that lots of colours could be cheaper gouache, but a lot of darker colours tend to dry more cracked and brittle. I'm looking for the most economical way to make a really banging dried gouache palette that isn't crumbling to pieces - I don't want to buy ALL Daniel Smith/Schmincke Horadam because it's expensive. Which colours is it essential to splash out on in a dried palette, and which ones are really good even in the cheaper brands? Thanks so much! Big fan of your channel <3

The painting is so beautiful, muted and subtlety really works. I much prefer gouache to watercolour but have lots of watercolour paint so this would be a great way to start using it. Thank you, as always, your work is so inspiring 🙏

Just LOVE the architecture..you are entitled to ...in Scotland...and love how your rendition evolved...you are an AMAZING draughtsman/person...you just plop in those shapes...so perfectly in proportion...and then POOF...lovely gouache/watercolour added in ...after your sketch....gives a graphic...urban sketcher vibe to me...thanks for showing us all...what you have been up to...and about at!...Janis

It is very kind of you to share some of your plein air painting time with us. And I thank you for sharing some very stunning painting sites from your beautiful Scotland as well. I would love to visit there again one day. (My husband and I biked around some of Europe in 1985 and got to experience a baby bit of Scotland & loved every minute of it.) As we lived in Alaska for many years I love boats/docks/water…really love your boat and rock paintings.😊
